Apostle Richard Sekgobela was born in Alverton Village, outside Burgersfort in Limpopo. He is the second-born in his family and from birth, his life carried a special mark of God's hand.
While still in his mother's womb, he survived an attack that led to an emergency operation. As a newborn, he battled severe health challenges, and his parents feared he would not survive. But by God's grace, he overcame—marked as the only child among his siblings to endure such spiritual attacks.
From a young age, Apostle Richard was a unique and prophetic child. At just seven years old, he began foretelling events and prophesying accurately, leaving many in awe. His family was told he would one day become a great prophet.
In 2011, he encountered the life-changing power of Jesus Christ and accepted Him as Lord and Savior. From that moment, everything began to make sense, and he never looked back. His prophetic gift became clearer, and God began to use him to impact lives.
Alongside his spiritual journey, Apostle Richard also pursued his education with diligence. He completed his primary education at Morethushe Primary School and his secondary education at Lehlabile Secondary School.
He later studied Marketing and Communication Management at CN Phatudi TVET College, and went on to further his studies by obtaining a Diploma in Environmental and Safety Management from Athena Global Education.
This background has equipped him with both spiritual insight and practical leadership skills to guide his ministry effectively.
At the age of 30, the Lord spoke to him clearly, instructing him to start a ministry. In 2022, he received a divine confirmation when the Lord directed him to meet Prophet V.C. Zitha in Phalaborwa, where he was given a word of direction that solidified his assignment.
Today, Apostle Richard Sekgobela is a servant of God called to set the children of God free through the preaching of purity, holiness, and righteousness. He is passionate about seeing lives transformed, destinies restored, and the power of God revealed through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
His ministry is marked by prayer, prophecy, deliverance, and a burning desire to prepare God's people for revival. Beyond the pulpit, he is a mentor, counselor, entrepreneur, and encourager to many—walking alongside people in both their struggles and their victories.
Through Jesus Set Me Free Ministries, Apostle Richard leads a Christ-centered, Spirit-filled movement with a vision to win souls, raise disciples, and build a generation that walks in holiness and the power of God.
The mission of the ministry is to bring healing, deliverance, and restoration to individuals, families, and communities through the uncompromised Word of God.
Apostle Richard believes that every child of God has a divine destiny, and through the work of this ministry, countless lives have been transformed, chains broken, and testimonies birthed.
His prayer is to see the church rise as a beacon of light—reviving nations and preparing the world for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. His vision is to see revival break out, destinies unlocked, and a generation rising up to fulfill God's purpose.
